We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of ceramic works by Shigeo Tanaka, who lives and works in a 280-year-old traditional house in Oku-Asuka, Nara Prefecture. Please come and see Tanaka san’s beautiful and easy-to-use vessels like earthenware, white porcelain, and items inspired by antiques that reflect his way of life. This is his first exhibition in Kanazawa. On the evening of April 24th, the first day of the exhibition, and full moon night, we will have a tea ceremony with Ichiko Horiguchi using Tanaka's ceramics, and there will also be an opportunity to make tea on the 25th. Please join us.

In support of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, a portion of the sales during the exhibition will be donated. The recipient of the donation will be chosen according to the situation and will be informed at a later date.

Profile

Shigeo Tanaka

Born in Kyoto, in 1963. Lives and works in a 280-year-old house in Oku-Asuka, Nara Prefecture. He is almost self-taught in the art of ceramics. In 2011, he built an anagama kiln, and in 2016, a wood-fired kiln with an inverted flame. He has held solo exhibitions throughout Japan and foreign countries.

Ichiko Horiguchi

Founder of "Shizencha Kenkujo". Fascinated by the world of tea, she has planned and held tea ceremonies, tea classes, and other events centering on Chinese tea, which is at the root of all tea. In recent years, she has been researching natural tea through activities related to tea making and the roots of tea leaves. She is currently pursuing the possibilities of tea.
